Barona Creek Golf Club,

Cactus Park
Located next to El Capitan High School on Ashwood Street.
This park has Baseball and Softball league fields, and BMX track
facilities. Grandstands & restrooms are available. All ages can enjoy the
sport of BMX with races held every Monday and Thursday evenings, and

El Capitan
Reservoir
Located eight miles east on El Monte Road. It is open March
through September, Friday through Sunday (619-465-3474). Restaurant and
boat rentals are available. When full, the lake is large enough for
water-skiing. Fishing includes bass, catfish, bluegill, bullhead, and
crappie. The grandeur of El Capitan Peak is great for hiking and a rock
climber’s paradise, and overlooks El Capitan Reservoir.
El Capitan Open
Space Preserve
Located five miles north on Wildcat canyon Road, this park is
designated as a nature study and trail park. Staging areas and trails are

Lake Jennings
Located off Lake Jennings Park Road. This park is situated
on a landscaped knoll overlooking Lake Jennings. The park offers year-round
camping and fishing with 2500 feet of lake frontage. Trailer camping (with
utilities) is available. Camping, hiking & fishing. Tot lot, restrooms

El Monte Park
Located five miles east on El Monte Road, before you get to
El Capitan Reservoir. Nestled in a grove of magnificent Live Oak trees,
this beautiful picnic park offers a wide variety of activities. There are
three large group picnic areas with dance ramadas, tot lot & junior play
area, a ball field, tennis & volleyball courts, horseshoe pits & restrooms.
Lakeside Community Center
(LCC)
Located next to Lindo Lake is the Community, Senior Center, and Library.
The center offers an array of programs and services to all residents of
Lakeside and the surrounding area. From youth to seniors, the LCC has a
program for you. Recently added, CALY (Community Action by Lakeside Youth),
a group of interested and informed youth desiring to deal with and tackle
issues that impact Lakeside kids. The Community Center is also available

Lakeside Rodeo Grounds
Horses have always been a part of Lakeside’s history and present
activities. In April every year the ‘bull and bronc riding, and steer
wrestling rodeo’ takes place with all proceeds going to Lakeside youth
groups and schools. The regional finals of the International Professional
Rodeo Association are held in November. Every year the grounds host the
‘East County Junior Fair’ for our Future Farmers of America (FFA). 12548

Lindo Lake Park
Lindo Lake Park located in the heart of Lakeside beside the Community and Senior Centers
and Library. Home of the 2001 Lakeside ‘Spirit of Christmas’ there are 54
acres with picnic areas and fishing. There is a recreation program for all
ages (619-443-3696), the library is located in the park on Vine Street
(619-443-1811), and the Historical Society has a museum that is open on
holidays and by appointment, (619-561-1886.) The park has picnic areas, a
dance ramada, tot lot & junior play areas, a ball field, tennis and
volleyball courts, horseshoe pits and restrooms.
Louis A. Stelzer Park
Louis A. Stelzer Park
is two miles north on
Mapleview/Wildcat Canyon Road. The park is a
recreational facility emphasizing camping and nature study for all citizens
and has provided facilities useful to the disabled and needy. It has picnic
facilities, rustic campsites, paved hiking trails and play equipment
designed to accommodate both the disabled and non-disabled. It has a Nature
Studies Interpretive Center that emphasizes that natural environment is the

Oak Oasis

San Vicente Reservoir
Home of the California State record Blue Catfish (101 lb) caught March
2000! San Vicente is four miles north of Lakeside on Hwy 67, and one mile
east on San Vicente or Vigilante, to Moreno Avenue. It is open October
through June, Thursday through Sunday, (619-465-3474.) A man-made lake
formed when the dam was complete in l943, this reservoir provides 1,069
surface acres and 14 shoreline miles when full. Anglers catch trout, bass,
bluegill and channel catfish. Picnicking is limited to a small area
adjacent to the Concession stand and restrooms are available.
Silverwood Wildlife Sanctuary
Owned by the Audubon
Society, it is located five miles north on Wildcat

Country Club
